MPO breakout and polarity planner

MPO trunks come in three TIA-568 types: A is straight, B is reversed and C is pair-flipped. The planner maps every fibre from end A to end B, annotates transmit and receive positions, and checks that each Tx lands on an Rx.

Select your trunk below. The mapping builds itself.

Methods (TIA-568)

  • A: Type A trunk, A-to-B cord at one end.
  • B: Type B trunk, A-to-A cords at both ends.
  • C: Type C trunk, A-to-B cords at both ends.

How this is worked out

Every mapping is shown. A planner that hides its table is not a tool.

For 8-fibre parallel optics on MPO-12, positions 1 to 4 are Tx, 9 to 12 are Rx and 5 to 8 are unused. For 12-fibre duplex, odd positions transmit and even positions receive.

Polarity methods combine trunk type with patch cord types. Method B pairs a Type B trunk with A-to-A cords at both ends. The planner flags any Tx that does not land on Rx.

Questions

What does this tool do?

This tool helps engineers with mpo breakout and polarity planner. Enter your own figures and everything is calculated in your browser.

Are my figures stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us.

How accurate is it?

It is exactly as accurate as the figures you put in. Treat it as a planning aid, not a precise measurement.

Is it free?

Yes. All DataOptix engineer tools are free with no login, no email gate and no cookies.
