A managed services provider needed to consolidate three Frankfurt facilities into two without breaching customer SLAs. DataOptix audited the estate, built a dependency-aware move plan in eleven waves and executed the migration over nine weekends. No wave overran its change window and no customer recorded unplanned downtime.

What the customer was facing
- Three facilities with overlapping customer workloads and no single source of truth for what was installed where
- Contractual SLAs with end customers that made unplanned downtime a financial penalty, not just a reputational one
- Cross-connects and carrier circuits with provisioning lead times measured in weeks
- Documentation that had drifted far enough from reality to be unusable as a move input
Solution
What we did
- A full physical audit of all three sites, capturing assets, cabling, cross-connects and measured power draw
- Reconciliation against the existing CMDB, which surfaced 40 devices absent from the records entirely
- Eleven move groups sequenced by dependency, each sized to fit a single weekend change window
- Cross-connect and carrier orders raised at the destination sites eight weeks ahead of the first wave
- A defined rollback point per wave, held open until the customer signed the wave off on the Monday

Where it left them
The provider consolidated from three facilities to two, reduced its monthly colocation spend and came out of the project with an accurate asset record for the first time in years. The audit dataset became the input to their DCIM rollout.
